Hi Folks

I'm back as Ladies Hon. Sec. at my club for my sins...........and would like some help please (perhaps from Janet or Judy) about Divisions.

Traditionally the Ladies have had Silver & Bronze but I can't find any reference to this on LGU or EWGA websites......is it just at club level that players are spilt into divisions?
The LGU used to have Silvers & Bronze divisions but now EWGA run the EWGA Medal they have just one division and there is no longer any reference to Silver & Bronze divisions.

Hi Maggie

The EWGA (old LGU) medals do have just one overall winner at the end of the
season so for all intents and purposes, there are no separate Divisions for
the medal. However, at KLGC we run a club medal concurrently with the EWGA
medal (mostly so we can ask for an entry fee and give a prize for each
medal!). We still have a Silver and Bronze winner for each of these and the
two categories are used everywhere else - e.g. matches.

KLGC have the 'honour' of hosting the Northern Region EWGA medal finals next
May and I am pleased that each club will only be ending one winner as I
think we would have difficulty accommodating two winners from each club...

Good luck with the Secretaryship - I have the Lady Captain's job and though
I do not officially take over until next February our current L.C., who has
valiantly done the job for two consecutive years when we could not twist
anyone's arm to be vice-captain in her first year, is off to Spain for
twelve weeks in a couple of weeks time. We are off to Vilamoura next week
and when I return I shall be in her shoes to all intents and purposes. I am
now deep into preparing next year's fixture list, teams and sorting out our
committee - no Vice Captain yet but I have already made it clear that I have
no intention of doing more than one year!

Love & peace

Hi Janet

Nice to hear from you and I have great admiration in your taking on the Lady
Captain job...........I am happy to be Hon.Sec. but in no way will I be
LC!!!
Thanks for info re the divisions - I suspect one day they will be defunct at
club level as well and we will award prizes for 1st, 2nd 3rd etc.but in the
meantime I guess they are an incentive to keep in/get into Silver division.

Have fun in Vilamoura!

Maggie
PS Good luck with the Northern Region final next year

Janet and Maggie,

I found your mails in amongst the dross that appears on what was once
a busy golf site. I only look there occasionally, now for the group as
it once was, has disappeared.

I have had a report from Beatrice only an hour ago that she has just
arrived home from our clubs Ladies AGM. In all of her years she has
never known one where there were NO questions from the floor!?!?

With all the implications of the effect of the Equality Act last month
on golf clubs I wonder whether there will be any future Ladies AGM's
for we are all now "members". The full impact has not hit us yet at
BPGC for there has not yet been any concrete proposals for future
memberships. Disabled users car parks and disabled lifts are being
installed but any financial decisions are yet to surface. There will
certainly be some I am sure. Just when I was about to get my life
membership too. Ah well.....deep sigh!

Good luck to you both in your new appointments. Nice to hear from old
acquaintances.

We (in Oz) are also being faced with issues like this, one notable
item being the requirement to have disabled toilets and access ramps on
the course!! Something wrong there!

Hi Pat

I also don't look very often but it's still good to keep in touch with
everyone - hopefully in May!

Anyway you may see my post about the Equality Act 2010 and it would be good
to know what has happened at your club as a consequence.

Would you accept my congratulations or rather my commiserations?
<wg>

Cheers!

Paul, lucky to some extent that there is no club at my course
(only a limited company)
