Going on holiday to Thailand and hoping to get a few rounds in while their.
Does anybody know the scene well over there. Hoping we can hire our clubs
over there and get some dirt cheap golf at a reasonable course.

There is a guy on rec.sport.golf , Dave Cary, who is married to a Thai
lady, and goes over there quite often. He would be able to suggest
quite a few places to go.

AAAARgh! While their what? While their friends applaud the first four
birdies? While their ball rests in the lemongrass plantation? While their
pro asks if you like his sister??

We demand to be told!! ;-)

I live in Thailand, and the golf is great, although the prices are hiked up
at the moment, because it is high season, low season is April til Nov.

Still the average price for a round, a caddy, and a buggy is about 15
pounds.

The courses are excellent!

if you need more info, just ask!

Music to my ears. We're over in April actually so that's good news. I
believe the north is ridiculously hot at that time of year so will probably
head southwards.

We want to be able to hire our clubs at the course if possible and just turn
up at the course and either get a round that day or book one for the near
future.

I've heard about it yeah, the Songkhran festival. We should catch the end of
it then as we arrive on the 18th, looking forward to it.

I'm not too sure what the societies are. Are they for visitors as well as
locals?

April is the hottest month of the year, their is a water festival, during
the month, which is absolutely crazy, it lasts for about a WEEK! everywhere
you go you get soaked!! good fun, but if you want to avoid aim for about the
20th April.
There is about 20 Golf courses in Pattaya, (which is where I live), and it
is a fantastic place to stay as well. Also their is about 12 societies that
organize weekly events, some will loan clubs. Most Golf Clubs will hire as
well.
You will have no problem booking a day in advance, but the societies are
very good, you pay 400 baht (6 pounds) which includes entry fee, and
transport to and from the course. Let other people take the stress!! as
driving here can be a little bit hectic.
any more just ask
