How great to see so much activity once again on the old group! I really
miss it. It gives me the opportunity to brag a bit but also, in doing so to
thank so many people.

Last September the English Womens Golf Association (EWGA) posted a rules
competition on their website and invited entries, the top five per cent to
be invited to regional rules days to become referees for their area. I
really enjoyed the quiz and sent in my entry, genuinely not expecting much.
However, just before Christmas I had a letter saying that I had got 91% and
I am going to the northern region rules day at Manchester Golf Club next
Monday!

This would never have happened if a lot of people on this newsgroup hadn't
both got my interest in rules matters and, more importantly, given me a lot
of help and thoughtful support when I asked questions. So thank you to you
all.

It has been a very demanding golf year for me as I was Lady Captain at
Kirkby Lonsdale and was also elected to serve on the newly formed Board of
Directors. Both positions come to an end by the end of March I am pleased
to say and, in addition to playing at KLGC this coming year, Chris and I
have left Grange-over-Sands and have joined Morecambe in anticipation of a
move to Heysham in the reasonably near future.

We are also planning trips to Sweden and to Missouri this year to play
hickory golf with friends in their local tournaments and Chris has several
events scheduled - so the business continues although Chris has changed his
personal playing loyalties to classic golf and is busy acquiring and
restoring persimmon clubs and is a contributor to several classic golf
forums.

It would be great if this newsgroup can reinvent itself, if not exactly as
the past, at least as a place to keep in touch with some good golfing
friends.

Peace and love (yeah, still the sig!)

I don't know those courses, but they look nice! But they're not Silloth!
Congratulations on your year of service. Would you do it again? :-)
