I did not enter the competition today as I was due to play of yellow
tees (Rabbits comp) but both my partners were playing off the white
tees in a separate competition.

However I did keep a card and scored 39 points (with 3 blobs !!) and
put my crad in for handicap re-assessment. Does the hcp secretary have
to accept my card or can he just discard it because I had not entered
the competition.

It seems that if am putting the card in then my hcp should be cut in
accordance with the SSS of the day.

TIA

I presume the yellow tees are a measured course with its own SSS? Then
any signed card offered is valid for handicap consideration, but outside
of a competition I think it can only be considered for a general play
reduction, which must be of at least 1.0 shots. 39 pts might not be
enough, depending on the SSS.

Cheers Mark,
I played off white tees where SSS will be 71 (36). So that would be
0.9 shots. Pity I didn''t enter the competition really.

the competition.
Yes

However, you could have declared a 'supplementary round' before you set
off.

The hcp secretary did reject the card but only because I had entered
plenty of competitions already. He said the only option he had would
be to pull me on general play which would be a minimum of one stroke.
He did not see the need and neither did I. Back to normal yesterday
with 29 points.
