Hi all. Wonderful final days golf at Celtic Manor, have just finished
watching the highlights on i-player. It was tense even though I already knew
the result!
On another matter, I played yesterday and one of our group had a situation
that I haven't come across before. Tee'd a ball a ball up on a tee peg for
his drive, swung back, commenced his drive, and 2/3 of the way down the ball
fell off the tee peg, causing him to miss-hit his shot. Obviously as his
name is not Tiger Woods he was not able to stop his shot on the way down! I
take it that the shot counted, and he has no redress?

RoG 11-3 applies, IMHO, and confirms your thoughts.

David,

Note that the ball is in play after the first stroke (the "air shot"),
therefore it must either be played as it lies or the player,
under penalty of one stroke, may re-tee the ball anywhere within the teeing
ground
under Rule 27-1a (see also Rule 20-5(a))
