USG weekend

Initial mails have been sent to the folloiwng hotels to get an idea on
price and availability. I have started with the Sun/Mon of 15/16 May
2011 as my preferred dates but am willing to move one week either way
if we can get a much better deal.

Carden Park (Cheshire) - De Vere - two courses of which the Cheshire
is superb and the Palmer is good (but a bit of a trek round)

Belton Woods - Grantham - De Vere - three courses, have never played
any of them but I hear good things. De Vere hotels wil be expensive
for drinks

Telford Golf Hotel - one course

I did wonder about Halidon Lakes (Daventry) which is closish to the M1/
M40 in Northampton -purpose built golfing venue - 27 holes.

Any thoughts or doubts appreciated

Don't let it sway you either way, but I can't make the 15th/16th (as I
will be in Las Vegas !) Similarly the following week, and the one
after, and the one after that... I could make the week before,
although frankly you will all have to watch me learn to play all over
again - the dirt on my clubs and shoes is still there from Patshull
Park last year. Regular golf looks like it won't be on the cards
again until retirement, whenever *that* might come around.

[To Pat - you are supposed to drink malt once it's in the bottle, it
doesn't keep improving out of the barrel ;-)]

That is very disappointing John, a lot depends on best price and
feedback I get on who is available when.
Currently I have not even had a reply from all three hotels I have
contacted.

I can make 15/16, or the 8/9. I'm not sure how many people are still
monitoring this place, though. Let me know if you need any email
addresses.

Yes, John. Last year it took you about one swing and you were back to
hitting a very nice ball. "Natural" springs to mind :-)

Sorry to hear you haven't got the time for any golf though.
